Makema Douglas is an educational consultant and community program developer for her company Mudpie Queens. She is also a developmental intervention therapist for New Jersey's Early Intervention Program. Douglas was a teacher for Vineland Public Schools and Salem City Public Schools. She has been licensed as a minister and youth pastor.  Douglas is also a published author. Over the past several years, she has written and illustrated, Mudpie Queens: Devotions for Women for Every Phase of Life, Nyla's Weather Hair, and My Upside Down World. In 2022, she collaborated with two colleagues to publish a collection of autobiographical stories called, After the Slipper Fits. These books can be purchased on Amazon and wherever books are sold.

     Makema Douglas, formerly Makema Edwards was born and raised in Vineland, New Jersey. She attended Vineland Public Schools grades K-12.  Douglas is a graduate from Rowan of South Jersey (CCC), Rutgers University of Camden, Montclair State University and Thomas Edison University. She holds a master's degree in Educational Leadership. Douglas also holds a New Jersey state certificate for supervision and a principal certificate. She is happily married to Shawn Douglas Sr.  On July 30, 2024, the couple celebrated thirty years of marital bliss.  They have three adult sons, a daughter-in-law and two grandsons.
